If you are looking for ideas for quick, active breaks to burn some energy and/or help children re-focus, check out the Action Schools! BC resources. Although they were originally created for the classroom, many of them require minimal equipment and can be easily modified to be done at home. Print off the activities and hang them around your house, or view them online.
For K-3 students, try 100 Actions on 100’s Day, and get them to count along as they practice their 100 different movements. For older students, as a way to transition from one subject to the next, encourage them to take a break and do some stretches from the Dynamic Head-to-Toe Stretch activity.
