Wellness Week

Esquimalt High School Mental Health & Well-being SD061 School Level Secondary Island Health Authority Public

Wellness week was a combined effort of staff and students to bring awareness to our school around well-being, positive culture and connection. Students participated in many activities throughout the week. We started with “Tea on Tuesday” first thing in the morning, offering iced tea and homemade granola bars (thanks to the cafeteria) to all staff and students to nourish them on their way into school. We ended Tuesday with a showing of “The Happy Movie” after school complete with popcorn, door prizes and great energy. Students finished the movie inspired and excited to improve their own well-being and enhance the positive culture within the school, so they covered the school in colourful post-it notes with fun messages. High-five and connect on Wednesday came together with fun buttons that were shared amongst students and staff in the school. We culminated our Wellness week with a school wide yoga mob. Students had been participating for several weeks in a free yoga class at lunch and brought their good energy, mindful moments and strong bodies to this fun event outside on the field. It was a “happy” week had by all!
