PHE Canada has developed a new guidebook to support gender and sexually diverse students and make the classroom a more diverse place. Many gender and sexually diverse students have had negative experience when engaging in physical and health education according to current research. PHE Canada teamed up with Dr. Travers, Sonali (Alyy) Patel, a 2SLGBTQ+ intersectionality researcher, and 2SLGBTQ+ youth and allies to give recommendations for programing that would better support these students in the classroom. Schools can use the guidebook to create change, fight discrimination and educate staff and students on the importance of inclusive spaces for physical activity. You can download the guidebook, posters and literature review on the PHE website.
