Hosted by the World Health Organization (WHO), World Health Day is an annual celebration to create awareness around a specific health theme. World Health Day 2020 will shine a light on the vital role played by nurses and midwives in providing health care around the world.
One of the primary goals of this year’s theme is to trigger a wave of public appreciation for the work of nurses and midwives and the part they play in delivering health care. It feels like an especially opportune time to say thank you to our health care workers as they have been working especially hard over the last couple of weeks to keep us all safe. Consider encouraging children or students to thank a nurse or midwife that has impacted their life. For educators, this could be used as a creative writing, art or media assignment.
