Over the past number of years there has been a significant growth of interest in and support for healthy eating and food literacy activities in schools communities across BC. This includes initiatives around nutrition education, school gardens, cooking activities, Farm to School salad bars and much more. Food literacy is defined as having the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to choose, grow, prepare and enjoy food to support one’s health, community, and the environment. Students’ learning is enhanced when learning experiences extend beyond the classroom throughout the school and into the community.
